Hope for a Thaw verdict grew as jurors reviewed two hours of testimony and requested light on key issues. Foreman’s questions suggested doubts over premeditation and insanity, with jurors reading long exhibits and cross examinations before resuming deliberations.
Record of deaths includes Carl Mayberry from Magnolia Springs Alabama age 3 Lewis R Allen age 34 of Pittsburg George W Mercer age 45 of Hazel Dell and Paul W Beck age 25 from Youngstown listed in the notice.
District Attorney Jerome fin ished his argument late yesterday afternoon after 4 oclock. Justice Fitzgerald delivered his charge to the jury concluding about 5 oclock. The jury retired and was locked up for the night at 11:15. They asked to read portions of testimony at about 1 this morning. They returned at 1:30 this afternoon. The judge instructed the jury to ignore the unwritten law defense. If Thaw was insane at the time of the shooting he should be acquitted on that ground. If sane and premeditation is proven the verdict should be first degree murder. If no premeditation and sane, verdict of second degree murder or first degree manslaughter depending on guilt.
Paul W. Beck aged 25 dies at home on 815 Mahoning Avenue Youngstown after a long illness linked to typhoid fever stomach disorder He had worked as traveling auditor for Armour Company and later ran its Spokane offices He is survived by parents two brothers Parker and Howard and sister Helen Funeral set for Friday at 1 PM at the parental home conducted by Reverend Holmes.
In Chattanooga Bryan praised John Temple Graves for his candor and said he would not nominate Theodore Roosevelt for another term. He argued Roosevelt is unsuitable and named Robert La Follette of Wisconsin as the ideal Republican standard bearer for the Democrats to consider.

Word came Thursday morning of the death of Carl Mayberry three year old son of J and Mrs John A Mayberry of a city farm life. He had recently gone to Magnolia Alabama with his parents for health reasons and fell ill with whooping cough and pneumonia before dying Wednesday. The body will arrive Saturday and the funeral will be held at a later date from the home of Mr and Mrs E W Brothers on Butler Avenue. The family long resided in the city and were known to many Newtle residents.

Andrew Scott, 14, who ran away seeking to see the world, was captured at New Castle Junction and returned to Allegheny by Detective Breen. His father Frank Scott embraced him and asked if he was fed and not abused, the boy replying he ran away mainly to avoid school.
