A two story vacant home at 706 Etna St on New Castle's West Side burned last night. Firefighters were dispatched around 10 15 p.m with city crews requesting Union Township's tower truck and South New Castle Borough on standby.

Apparent Arson Suspected In New Castle Duplex Fire
New Castle police say a Monday night fire at 202 S Ray St on the Lower East Side was an apparent arson. Firefighters found two pit bulls in cages on the second floor and CPR failed to revive them. The blaze began in the kitchen on the upper floor after a prior fights between tenants.

County forms sexual assault task force across county
The Lawrence County district attorney’s office has formed a sexual assault and special victims task force with police departments countywide. Robbery suspect identified by DNA from mask in Pa
State police say DNA from a tan camouflage mask left at the 2013 Sheetz robbery in Slippery Rock Township matched Mikal Marquise Petronelis, 22, of 825 E Sutton St. He was arrested after crime lab results linked him to the mask found on Route 388 near the store.
