Intruder Shot During Break-In in New Castle Home
A New Castle man identified as Michael Mezza, 33, was shot in the right chest by resident Scott Powell after allegedly forcing entry at 699 Arlington Ave around 2:30 a.m. Powell fired with a shotgun as Mezza moved between floors. Mezza was hospitalized in critical condition after transfer from St. Francis to Mercy.

Prison board explores options to cut medical furloughs
