The Dakotas Nebraska and Iowa brace for potentially the region’s worst flood in history as the Missouri and Sioux rivers surge toward record crests. One drowning death reported and about 1700 people evacuated. Bismarck sets an all time flood stage.
Mrs Lola M Harris resigns as head of the Almira Home for Aged Women due to ill health. Her resignation, presented April 1, was accepted with regret and takes effect May 1. Harris, who became nurse in 1942 and superintendent in 1946, says she leaves after serving forty residents and the board.
Police investigated a burglary at actress Ann Miller's Hollywood home. Thieves stole an $8,000 mink coat from her mother and all of Miller's jewelry, plus a diamond-encrusted gold cigarette case her mother planned as a birthday gift for Miller.

U S Commissioner of Education Earl J. McGrath told the American Association of School Administrators in Boston that ten billion dollars are needed to provide adequate modern schools. He warned of a current shortage of 600 000 classrooms with more needed.

Investigators review deals tied to Nathan and Larsen. House probes may compel Nunan to testify if illness lacks support.
Former ambassador William C. Bullitt testified before the Senate internal security committee that he suspected Owen Lattimore in 1936 of helping spread Communist authority in Asia. He linked his view to Lattimore urging him to urge Roosevelt to recognize Mongolia's independence during a Moscow meeting. Continued on Page Two.
Air Force investigators trek through heavy snow in Golconda Gulch near Helena to reach wreckage of a C 54 transport. Rescue teams found the bodies of pilot Capt. Robert P. Lerwick, co pilot Capt. Curtis T. Church, and flight engineer T Sgt Alvin C Norcross. The Great Falls AFB based ship was en route to Oakland when witnesses saw a sharp dive and an explosion.

Wage board chairman Feinsinger huddled with industry reps while CIO President Murray and union chiefs waited, with Truman menacing possible government seizure if no deal. Andrew Miczhewicz, 23, of Carnegie, died at 2 55 pm Monday at Ellwood City hospital from injuries in a three car crash on Route 19 five miles south of Zelienople Sunday. Marine Cpl Joseph W Peterson, 20, of New Castle, and four other youths were injured. Miczhewicz was driving one car. State police at Warrendale investigated.
