Allies mine three areas off Norway coast

British and French forces mined three zones off the Norwegian coast at dawn to tighten the blockade on the Reich. Areas named include off Bad, West Fjord and Stadtlandet Peninsula. Air Raid Alarm Sends Planes Up Over Shetland

London April 8 Royal Air Force sorties rose after an air raid alarm in the Shetland Islands area. The air ministry gave no attack confirmation but said Nazi planes were sighted heading toward Shetland, a base for British naval and air operations. Two German planes were shot down yesterday, with a third damaged over the North Sea and Western Front. Two British planes did not return from the North Sea engagement. A coastal command patrol intercepted a squadron of Nazi fighters, one Nazi plane went up in flames and another limped away damaged.

Stolen Sharon Safe Is Found

City and county authorities probe identities of bandits who stole a safe from the Streamline grocery in Sharon Friday night. The safe yielded about 900 dollars. An auto owned by R H Goeltz was used to move the safe and was found Saturday afternoon on Sampson street. Police and sheriffs inspected the Paden farm barn as part of the investigation. another auto and welding outfit stolen earlier are noted.

Start Work On New Building For Pennsylvania Power

Ground was broken at 8 30 a m today for the 200 000 service building of the Pennsylvania Power company to be erected at the intersection of South Jefferson Street and Croton avenue extension. L A Haug, contractor, received the permit earlier. The brick concrete and steel structure will front Bolith Jefferson street with sections of two and one story heights, 323 feet along South Jefferson and 135 feet wide. Construction is slated to take six months and the building will house various departments.

Pin Removed From Baby Stomache After Swallowed Pin

Roger Naples six months old, son of Mr and Mrs William Naples of 10 South Liberty Street, improved after operation at New Castle hospital to remove a safety pin swallowed Saturday. X ray showed a large open pin in the stomach. surgeons closed it and removed via a stomach tube, first such case at the hospital without perforating the stomach wall. The pin, once attached to medals on the child's shirt, was swallowed after the child removed the medals and dropped them into the mouth.

An eruption of Maunaloa, long dormant, was reported from the islands. A radio intercept from Hilo, T H, sent by Lieut. William Seymour, chief of communications, stated the eruption began at 3 40 this morning with a fiery display of smoke and cinders visible 90 miles away from Alameda County.
