Youth Admits Slaying His Young Fiancee
Oakland, April 6. Authorities said Arthur E. Prindle confessed from a hospital bed that he strangled and beat to death his 18 year old fiancée Sally Ann Humphreys after a quarrel over other men. He described beating and strangling her with a belt in a parked car on Fish Ranch road, then attempted suicide by slashing his wrist and taking sedatives. The 19 year old said he killed Sally after she began going with other fellows and quoted that he wanted to die after the confession. The victim was found in the front seat of a convertible. Prindle lay unconscious in the back seat with a belt, and a hospital report noted his condition. The statement was taken by Deputy District Attorney Wakefield Taylor as Patrolman Lester J. Prindle, the detective father, listened.
