With 98 percent of 3 290 precincts reporting McGovern led Wisconsin with 30 percent, Humphrey 21, Wallace 22, Muskie 10, Jackson 8 and Lindsay 7 as a 104 percent lift from Florida and 1 509 votes to win the nomination were noted. Nixon crushed Ashbrook and McCloskey in a lackluster GOP showing.

GM announces a recall of about 130000 1972 Chevrolet Vegas built at Lordstown Ohio to fix a carburetor and fuel system defect cited by Ralph Nader as a fire hazard. The company says parts will be delivered this month and repairs are free to owners. Nader alleges hidden recalls and unsafe practices while GM denies such claims and notes NHTSA oversight.
A bomb wired to a small foreign car ignition exploded as owner Randal Good started it. The 23 year old was killed, his wife Deborah 18 and Salvatore Pizullo 22 were in fair condition. The blast collapsed the carport and damaged Brookwood Village apartments, causing about 70,000 dollars in damage.
The Pittsburgh Pirates delayed their Thursday season opener against the New York Mets at Three Rivers Stadium due to the players strike. A team spokesman said fans with opening day tickets can use them if the game is played and no exchange is needed.
