Fallen Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings honored in Valor Hall induction
Fifteen years after his death in Fallujah on January 5, 2006, Marine Cpl. Albert P. Gettings is posthumously inducted into the Joseph A. Dugan Jr. Hall of Valor at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh. The ceremony adds him to 11 new inductees and joins more than 700 honored veterans since 1963. Gettings’s parents David and Julie Gettings of New Castle and sister Cori Gettings of New York attend. Judge Michael E. McCarthy presided.

County honors late Marine with Day in Lawrence County
Lawrence County commissioners paid tribute to a battalion from the 2nd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment and declared March 30 2021 as a day of appreciation for Cpl Albert P Gettings who was killed in Iraq on January 5 2006. Family members attended and a Gettings Award for Marines at Camp Lejeune is named in his honor.

Driver escapes car after creek plunge on Inner Belt
