Madison rejects cease fire referendum in Vietnam war vote
In Madison Wisconsin voters spurned a proposal calling for immediate cease fire and withdrawal of American troops from Vietnam. Fifty seven percent opposed the measure with 27 555 votes, 43 percent supported it with 20 523 ballots. The city population surrounds the University of Wisconsin main campus.
