Sewer workers recovered a dead cat Tuesday from a sanitary sewer on Division street. The animal was found in a manhole, tangled in the whirl of filth, suggesting it met its end there after possibly being tossed in to prevent its return.
Sheriff Waddington seized the property of George A. Moore on Croton avenue tied to Samuel R. Wilkison. The 197 by 221 and 203 feet parcel includes a two story stone and brick dwelling with a frame addition and will be sold on Monday April 29.

Fire originating from a kitchen stove damaged the home of Orin Bailey east of New Bedford on Wednesday morning. Neighbors assisted by telephone and with water to control the blaze. The roof and kitchen interior suffered fire and water damage. insurance will cover the loss.
In Chicago the 49,500 western railroad workers plan urgent talks with U S Labor Commissioner Neill and ICC Chair Knapp after peace efforts fail. Government arbitrators will press for settlement this afternoon. A crisis is expected before night unless concessions are made.

Charles Freese a Croton farmer was hurled 60 feet from a wagon struck by a Toledo and Ohio Central train. The wagon and team flew 80 feet, one horse was killed, but Freese escaped unharmed. The incident occurred near Newark Ohio on April 3.

Eight local reform women investigated a fortune teller Mrs. E H Marquette of Neshannock avenue and secured enough evidence to arrest her on a fortune telling charge. County Detective Logan served the warrant at her home, bail set at 500, with a hearing scheduled Friday.
