Fire damages Kennedy Square complex. Haney's Furniture affected
Fire at Kennedy Square damaged a five story building complex housing Haney's Furniture and others. Fire Chief Vern Brown said the blaze started on the fourth floor in a storage area and raced up a central chimney like shaft. The middle section roof collapsed and fire spread to the west building coating Haney's Furniture with water and smoke damage. Firefighters gained control by 10 p.m. and remained at the scene overnight. Loss estimates were not available.
