Western Pennsylvania experiences wind and a temperature drop with rain showers this morning changing to snow flurries this afternoon. Highs range from upper 30s to upper 50s, then tonight near 20s and Saturday in the 30s to low 40s.
Lt. William L. Calley Jr. leaves prison and is placed under light guard on Fort Benning stockade grounds. President Nixon ordered he be kept out of prison pending appeal. Calley may move freely on base, meet with lawyers, and receive visitors, but cannot speak to press.

World renowned organist and composer Dr Garth Edmundson of 106 E Wallace Ave died at 1 44 am at Jameson Memorial Hospital after a year of illness. He taught organ and performed as recitalist at churches including First Baptist First Christian and First Presbyterian during 25 years at the latter, with ties to Trinity Boston and London venues.
Mrs Evelyn Woods named First Lady of New Castle for 1970 after a late night call in Washington. Three member Xi Gamma Psi Chapter organized the reveal, culminating in Woods agreeing to attend a Cathedral dinner on April 21 to begin her year long honor.
