Pentagon plans large reservist call up for Vietnam and U.S. support

Defense officials disclosed that 50 000 to 60 000 Army reservists may be activated this week for several months to bolster U S forces in Vietnam and reinforce domestic standby forces. Officials said recalls could begin within three days to add 13 500 men, replace Marine units in Vietnam, and fill gaps in U S domestic strength with up to 50 000 reservists.

Shafer Warns Veto Possible Over Salary Bill

Gov. Raymond P. Shafer warned the Republican Senate he would veto any teachers pay bill that exceeds the 35 million level unless paired with a tax measure. He spoke to the GOP caucus and said he would reject the House version proposing 53 million in subsidies without revenue measures.

Investors Hope Rise Continues After Market Rally

28th Infantry Division to be called up

Defense officials said the 28th Infantry Division covering Pennsylvania Ohio and Maryland will be recalled as part of a six unit select Reserve force to reinforce the United States amid the Vietnam war effort.
