Indiana Centennial Commission to visit Corydon events set
The Indiana Centennial Commission travels from the city to Corydon for a state celebration marking 1816 statehood. Nine commission members will hold a meeting at the Corydon public school auditorium tomorrow night and stay overnight, with a return Saturday. Kahler Company breaks ground on plant expansion on North Vincennes Street and the Moxon railroad to double capacity.

Death from gas at Illinois Steel plant claims two workers
Shelby Lacey aged nineteen died at the South Chicago hospital from injuries after escaping gas from a valve he tried to close. Fellow worker Peter Moncilochi was overcome while helping drag Lacey to safety and also died at the company's hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Ratcliff of East Spring street returned from Petersburg visit.
