A Pocahontas lodge for wives daughters sisters and other relatives of Red Men was instituted at Castle Hall on State Street Saturday night with sixty charter members. Mrs Lalo Beach Great Focabontas of Indiana presided and the degree work was conferred by the Alfaretta Lodge degree team of Louisville with many members joining the city in support.
Lodge leader Lewie A Stoy a past great sachem of Indians presided over the degree work and installation of officers. Ice cream and cake were served after the ceremony with over 125 attending. Officers named include Pocahontas Mrs Alfred Stanford Winona Mia Joseph Kelley Prophetess Mrs William Wootan Keeper of Wampum Mrs George Wellington Keeper of Records Mrs Anna Brod Guard of Tepes Joseph Barks Guard of Forest Daniel Bostock Trustees Mrs Joseph Leist Mrs William Dillon and William Wootan Q Captain of degree Joseph Leaist. The meeting night for the new lodge will be fixed at its next gathering.
A Sunday night blaze at 11 30 damaged Peter Warisse's bakery on Eleventh Street and Greenaway Place and wrecked a rear stable and Mrs Maria E Love's cottage. The hayloft start point destroyed the stable. the bakery suffered about 1000 in damage. Fire insurance covered most losses except Mrs Love's uninsured cottage and Weissinger's damaged goods.
