Brigadier General Robert Henry Hall U S A retired is dead at age seventy seven. Born in Detroit he went to West Point and rose from captain in the Elgin war to colonel at Fort Sheridan Chicago and to brigadier general of volunteers at the Spanish American War outbreak.
In Elkhart Indiana on December 31 Sophie Nelson seventy told her daughter I am going to kill myself then shortly after the daughter found her mother dead in an outhouse from poison.

Buffalo, N Y December 31 Inquest by a Canadian coroner's jury found Walter Smith died Monday December 28 1914 from a bullet fired accidentally by three militiamen while being summoned by Provincial Officer Thomas Delaney to deter unlawful duck hunting in Canadian waters. The militiamen and Delaney testified the shots were fired in the air to scare hunters with no intent to injure. The Canadian military inquiry continues.
Two masked men aboard the Sunset Express near Cline robbed all passengers in the two rear sleepers at gunpoint. They dropped off and escaped. The amount taken is unknown but believed to be considerable.
Clinton Indiana dated December 31 reports Leo Taylor aged nineteen and Charles Roush aged twenty were sentenced to the reformatory after pleading guilty to breaking into a store at Rileyburg on November 30. A third man connected to the incident remains at large.
