Southern Railway to Restore Fast Trains and Boost Freight

Southern Railway officials announce return of two fast trains between this city and St. Louis, restoring local service and cutting trip time to about seven hours. Freight shipments through New Albany reach record levels as grain and flour flow to Allied fronts. Building permits issued and a wage reduction at Wood Mosaic Co. ended as business improves.

Evangelical Youth Society Hikes to Watermelon Feast

The Evangelical Young People's Society plans an outdoor meeting and watermelon feast at Rose Lewn, home of Griffin Plaiss on Slate Run road. Members will assemble at Glenwood Park at 7 30 P M and hike to the Plaiss residence Friday night.

Georgetown Bonds Sold at Premium for New Schoolhouse

Reed Eliott Harrison of Indianapolis won bids for 3800 dollars in Georgetown bonds issued to fund a new schoolhouse. Bonds dated August 2 bear 5 percent interest, sold at 150 dollars above par to Capital City Company. Georgetown bids for building were $600 over funds, plans updated, Stotsenburg Weathers of New Albany handling legal work.

Bloomington Couple Elope and Marry in County Clerk Office

Marshall Hendricks 21 and Nellie H. Maners 18, both near Bloomington, eloped to New Albany and were wed Friday morning in the county clerk’s office by Magistrate Padgett. Their parents, Joseph A. Hendricks and William B. Manners, are farmers. Hendricks listed carpentry as his occupation. A circuit court foreclosure suit for a $300 school fund mortgage was filed Friday by County Attorney George B. McIntyre.

Farmers and city residents are called to join a Dixie Highway Day at Glenwood Park New Albany on Tuesday August 10. The event aims to boost road improvements across Floyd County and beyond with speeches by Dixie Highway figures and invitations to officials and farmers alike.

George Beck Farm Sold For Six Thousand Dollars

Isaac F. Spencer of Dexter Perry county bought the George Beck farm from Mrs Addie A Beck widow of Albert G Beck on the Grant line road two and a half miles from the city. The farm contains fifty seven acres and the purchase price was six thousand dollars.

Kreutzer Will Probate Filed In Floyd Court

The will of Joseph C Kreutzer filed for probate names William P Kreutzer as executor with Mary Anna Kreutzer life interest. After debts and funeral expenses, remaining real and personal estate goes to wife during life and upon death to sons William P and Charles J. Date April 29 1915 witnessed by Nicholas Stein and George F Ritter. Also notes Martinsburg home coming August 21 with speakers G E B Weinmann and Lew M O Bannon and Novelty Four Quartet providing vocal music.
