Office on Pearl Street lists a mammoth sheet with tidy two column reading material. Terms: one copy for a year $2, ten cents per copy $15, payments in advance, paper discontinued at end of term. Daily Ledger published at the same offices at $5 per year.
A long critique of the Munfordville surrender details a contested account. The letter attributes treachery to Dunham and praises Wilder, noting claims of a larger rebel force and disputed command. The piece contrasts rival reports, defends Wilder and Capham, and questions reinforcements and decisions.
Charles Forst of Company G, 24th Illinois, shot old man John A. Colbey at Colbey's Main Street residence after a dispute over the soldier's departure to his regiment. Colbey, age over sixty, is severely wounded and may not recover. Forst was arrested by Rager and Kendall and jailed awaiting trial.

Rebels near Bardstown and Shelbyville threaten, bridges burned, rail lines torn, and a Federal picket shot near Louisville. Danville Bragg Dumont Morgan and Davis figures cited as forces, with battles anticipated and swift Confederate reverses implied.
The St Louis Republican notes banks and bankers plan to honor checks dated today even if lacking the two cent stamp. A New York Times paragraph outlines a possible amendatory act to remove penalties on instruments dated this year that lack stamps, though courts require proof of stamp payment. The piece cautions about foreign bills of exchange and notes consulting others before acting.
The statement from J J Brown Attorney and a letter from Mr Siddall explain an error in Floyd county draft rolls that misallocated New Albany township quota. New Albany township furnished its entire quota. the mistake added eight men to the total. General Commissioner J P Sippart apologizes for the injustice and confirms correction.
From Sept 13 1862 correspondence in Bonivar Tennessee a group of friends led by A S Burnett and others present Major W P Davis of the 23d Indiana Volunteers with a replacement sword after an accident injuring his own. He replies from luka Miss thanking them for the gesture and the sentiments about duty and loyalty to the Union and Constitution.
