Indianapolis Sept 18 President Mitchell of the United Mine Workers issued the order calling out 142,000 men in the anthracite coal regions of Pennsylvania. The action follows operators' refusal to submit the dispute to arbitration with the workers.

Martinsville Indiana September 13. Loewis Baker a 35 year old laborer has confessed to killing Miss Retta Burkhart whose mutilated body was found in a sequestered spot near town on Tuesday. He says he was too drunk to know what he was doing and is jailed now.
Skilled thieves dynamited the front of Youngman Uro. s saloon at 951 Southeastern avenue in Indianapolis and escaped with about $100. Thurmay Egan and Charles Hanson were arrested and confessed to the burglary.
John Reed, a Marion Indiana plumber, entered a furnace to test gas in a schoolhouse. A lighted candle ignited the gas causing an explosion that badly burned his head, face, and hands. Doctors say the injuries are not expected to be fatal.

Marion Idaho reports Frank Stillwell, Swayze saloonkeeper, died from wounds suffered in a Thursday night shooting fracas. Suspect Matt Nesbitt and his brother Bulb Nesbitt, also involved, are jailed.
