From Petersburg and Chicago reports photo evidence challenges official narratives of the Kishineff outbreak. Kishineff residents insist no Christian was wounded or hospitalised, naming two dead Christians including a boy whose death stemmed from fright and illness, while Chicago mentions Samuel J. Kline.
An advertisement touts Hood's Sarsaparilla as the best medicine for cost and effect claiming it purifies the blood and cures pimples eczema tiredness loss of appetite and debility. It quotes user Mass Errie Colonne of Washington DC praising energy and blood health improvements. The copy asserts it “promises to cure and keeps the promise.”

Charleston West Virginia May 23 Judge Jackson heard the contempt case against R B Bryant charged with violating Judge Keilers injunction and fined him fifty dollars and sentenced him to sixty days in jail. Two killed by cyclone Topeka Kansas May 28 a cyclone at Clay Center last night killed two girls and injured several persons. Half the town is reported blown away. At 1026 Fifth avenue in Pittsburg last night a fifth floor elevator plummeted to the basement during a banquet, crushing four dead and injuring five. Thirteen passengers were aboard when a snapped cable let the cage drop fifty feet, weights totaling a ton then pinned victims beneath wreckage. Professor L N Giles, operator of the Pennsylvan ia Electro Mechanical Institute, was arrested for allowing overcrowding.

Hillsboro Indiana May 23 A farmer Martin Kaiser and his seventeen year old daughter Anna were assaulted while returning from a meeting by a Black man. Kaiser survived and identified the assailant. The daughter is missing and feared harmed with her body thought to be in Tanner's creek. A suspect was arrested at Cleves Ohio twelve miles away and jailed awaiting Manchester authorities.
A severe storm hit Bucyrus Ohio and surrounding areas last evening. Strong winds uprooted trees crushed Barna and several houses. Streets were blocked by debris as telephone and electric light services were heavily damaged.
Governor Beckham orders 30 members of Company C Lexington 30 from Shelbyville and 40 from Louisville batteries with one Gatling gun to Jackson for duty during the grand jury investigation of the Marcum assassination.

In Decatur Indiana on May 23 three persons a woman and two men were arrested for passing Mexican five dollar bills as US currency. They were brought before the mayor and released after it was found no law covered the act. The bills, though good, have less value than US money. They used the bills to buy small items and obtain change.
In Kokomo Indiana on May 23 the coroner's inquiry fully exonerated Logan Ingles Dillard and Frank Eads who were released from bond. Rumors swirl that the night witness may have been a man in disguise. Lou Eads father of the detained Eads brothers considers a false imprisonment suit.
Rockville Indiana May 23 Mrs Isa belle McPheeters killed herself with a revolver shooting twice in the head. She had obtained a divorce from her husband the second time they separated and failed to induce him to remarry. Despondency over this likely drove the act. She leaves two little daughters.
At a meeting of the Indiana Republican Editorial association executive committee the secretary was instructed to arrange the annual outing for late July. The plan is a lake trip from Chicago to Detroit with stops at Milwaukee and Mackinac.
Lafayette reports William Underhill captured at Elston after assaulting Robert Reidy with a knife during a confrontation over the latter promenading with Underhill’s wife. Reidy, who came from Chicago, suffered four knife thrusts including a wound to the temporal bone and remains under medical care as authorities await results on his injuries.
