Jacob Weber is taken to central hospital for the insane in Indianapolis. A H Harrison circuit court fines William E Conner for assault. Public works set June 5 for East Seventh Street improvements. Doctors Rhodes and Hazlewood report a successful mangfold operation on Charles Sooner. A Knights of Columbus initiation is planned in Jeffersonville with Louisville and Evansville officers. The column also mentions a preacher’s fear of lost population and a remedy sales pitch from Oba Knoeafel’s.
The court house will not publish the names of clerks and judges for the local option election next Thursday. Inspections list was public, but the full clerk and judge roster is filed away to avoid exposing debts or domestic row concerns. The election board plans further changes Tuesday afternoon.
Reinhardt Dietz leaves for Gerassny for the summer. Mrs Charles D Keleo improving at Silver Hills home. W H H W Goldaberry departs for Denver for summer. Miss Mery Sampter from Bowling Green Ky visits Patillos at 109 Bank St and returns home. Rev Frack St Porter attends Fourteenth district Christian churches meeting in Stottsburg. Newland Gwio and Edward N Shrader return from Indianapolis State Funeral Directors Association meeting. Theodore Mareh of Fort Worth formerly here leaves tomorrow for home. Harry Michael and Miss Helen Davis wed in Jeffersonville by Justice Ferguson. bride daughter of Jease Davis.
Sheriff Sittason received a telegram from Los Angeles Police Chief Dishman asking to hold George F. Davis until local and Los Angeles officers arrive. Davis, sought for swindling wholesale merchants, disappeared from Ulite city about three years ago. The case was weak in circuit court and the state may not convict. Davis’s wife has visited him daily and plans to accompany him to Los Angeles.
Wm Upceborch of Glen Osk Oklahoma writes of a two year cough relief after trying all remedies. Col George W Bain of Kentucky lectured at the First Presbyterian church under the local option committee. J L Watson of Illinois spoke with stereoscopic views at the Second Baptist church. John Cerney of Texas gave a lecture on Maintreet as temperance wagon visits multiple points. The movement uses headquarters at Pearl and Market streets while both sides prepare for election day. A testimonial from Ave James Donocan of Haynesville recounts relief from dyspepsia after Electric Biters, praising health improvements at age 70, with local ads promoting the remedy.
The city of New Albany using a 3.5 multiplier to project population from a 6 419 school enrollment arrives at about 22 466 residents. Officials expect the official census next year to possibly show a larger total. The note mentions proposed annexation of adjoining territory and a conservative estimate. Hartford City police report Albert Hart confronted a woman in a crib and a man, Seotr Bull, former Montpelier schools official, allegedly involved in burglary and petit larceny. Bull claimed belt purchase and corn as pay but no corn received. Hart filed charges as Bull’s prominence contrasts with the alleged crime.
A Cumberland Telephone Telegraph Company notice to subscribers thanks users for kindness and asks cooperation to improve service. It urges prompt answer to calls, avoid delaying the receiver, and not to reveal personal telephone numbers or names when making calls.

Hot Springs Virginia May 20 John D Rockefeller says Rogers death is a great personal loss to business but only a personal loss to the market. He notes Rogers was not with Standard Oil for more than two years and recalls urging him to ease his burdens.
In Philadelphia on May 20 Jack Johnson the colored heavyweight champion fought Jack O Brien in a six round bout that ended even. The consensus was the match should have been a draw if a decision had been permissible.
In Brooklyn Boston Philadelphia New York Chicago Cleveland Detroit Milwaukee St Paul and Minneapolis results from the National and American Leagues. Box scores list runs hits and errors with batter and pitcher names for each game including key performers and outcomes across the day’s schedule.
Washington May 20 Signal honors were paid to John Witherspoon noted Scotch Presbyterian clergyman former Princeton president and signer of the Declaration. A statue was unveiled by seven year old John Witherspoon Withers, descendant of the Withers family. Dr Woodrow Wilson gave the principal oration and James Bryce the British ambassador spoke on Scotland's contribution to America. The statue was presented to the city by a District of Columbia commissioner.
North Vermon a May 20. Cal Crumbaugh shot Levi Zwyer in the neck as he and Hayden Zwyer resisted an ejectment writ served on their family. The farm, belonging to Tom French, had tenants Levi, Hayden, and their sister who refused to pay rent. Zwyers confronted Crumbaugh at the door. one brother struck with a club while the other drew a pistol. Crumbaugh says he fired as the pistol came out.
Chicago May 20. The trial of Martin B Madden and associates for conspiring to extort $1000 from the Joseph Kiucks company reveals how a hush money transaction moved through Madden and others during a Chicago building trades strike. Witnesses describe private meetings, a bank visit, and a cash handoff before the strike ended.
In Washington on May 20 an address before the Senate by Senator Clay of Georgia urged breaking the sugar trust and reducing the differential duty on refined sugar in the interest of consumers. The senate agreed to all metal schedule provisions and Mr. Aldrich said he would tackle previously skipped chemical schedule sections.
In New York on May 24 John Kirby Jr was elected president of the National Association of Manufacturers. The election marked no demonstration in favor of TOW. Van Cleave, the retiring president, pledged to follow his policies.
Crawfordsville Ind May 20 Thousands lined streets for the annual encampment parade. Talks, veteran addresses, and a rumored consolidation between the Women’s Relief Corps and the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic dominated the event as candidates jostled for department offices.
Havana reports the visit of Secretary of War Jacob M. Dickinson was cut short by illness aboard the converted yacht Mayflower. He will sail for Washington after three days of confinement to his state room due to vesical stone. The city boasted over seven thousand electric bulbs and ten thousand feet of cable in its power network, marking a brighter display than any prior Indiana city hosting veterans.
