Special to the Tribune reports the coroner’s inquest beginning for the victim of Jack the Ripper. In New York the Harrison drug mills were destroyed by fire with heavy losses, total destruction confirmed but totals not yet fixed.
Special to the Tribune. The president marched through Omaha and Lincoln on May 13, receiving large crowds and enthusiastic speeches in each city. The brief stops drew ample public support and spirited demonstrations of allegiance.
In Brussels on May 13, labor tensions that had simmered for days erupted into riotous scenes this morning. Authorities say they will move immediately to suppress the disturbance as violence unfolds across the city.
New York reports the Levy Brothers clothing house has failed amid a one million dollar deficit. The collapse causes street excitement as the scale of the loss shocks observers. One partner reportedly suffers mental strain and possible insanity from the crisis.
In Denver on May 13 a fight broke out between striking brick-makers and a hired group of seven colored workers under F N Davis. Davis, his son, and the seven negroes fired on the crowd after being intercepted. Two strikers were mortally wounded and sixteen injured. The Davis party was arrested.

Walla Walla authorities arrested eight enlisted men as accessories to the Hunt lynching on April 24. Upon news of the arrests six more men deserted last night and a provost guard searches for the deserters. Rumors say several additional arrests of soldiers suspected in the lynching will follow.
A 10-year-old son of Edward Spencer in Huntington was badly burned Saturday evening after exploding gunpowder placed in a cap box. This marks the fifth serious injury for the boy, who has previously lost part of a hand and broken an arm twice in the past year. Reports also note Michele Roberts an Italian killed by a locomotive in DuQuam Illinois and the body of Frank Weber found in the Des Moines River in Muscatine Iowa.
Rome notices Italian consul in New Orleans Corte must return home to report on events since Chief Hennessy’s murder. Vice-Consul Poma will act in interior. In Washington Corte’s recall is reported, with U S officials not responsible and another Italian officer to assume duties.
James M Turner of Lansino Michigan, a former Republican gubernatorial candidate, has sold all personal property to James J Joy and Christian H Buh of Detroit to secure debts totaling about 10000 dollars owed to several banks and Detroit creditors. Turner and his lawyers say debts will be paid in full if time is granted.
Citizens who funded time orders for Indiana Midland employees stopped trains at Lebanon Indiana, uncoupling engines and extinguishing fires. They refuse to permit any train to run until the company pays six months overdue wages, with strong anger directed at officials along the line.
A passenger train struck a timber piece projecting onto the track at Fort Jennings, northwest of Lima, injuring several men who were unloading a threshing machine. Henry Miller, Henry Slotman, and Louis Lence died in the accident with others badly hurt.
Miss Mabel Fenton, actress, suffered severe burns when her costume caught fire from an alcohol lamp in the dressing room in Patterson New Jersey. The flames destroyed her clothing and roasted her flesh, forcing the company to cancel its engagements and ruling out further performances for months.
Assistant Secretary Spaulding told an Ohio firm that the treasury department views the term horses in paragraph 247 of the 1890 act includes Shetland ponies. Such ponies are not embraced in paragraph 251 which imposes a 20 percent ad valorem duty on all other live animals.

In Eaton Rapids Michigan on May 1 solo man Barrick aged 40 was found drowned in the Grand River three miles from town. He had gone fishing Sunday and is believed to have suffered a fit and fallen into the water.
George J. Gibson former whisky trust secretary and lawyer Barry appeared in Criminal court with Judges Kettelle and Anthony to request a change of venue alleging prejudice. Decision on the request is set for tomorrow.
Report from New York on May 13 states Blaine is rapidly recovering after an inquiry at Walter Damrosch’s home. Departure for Washington tomorrow seems probable but not yet certain.
May dispatches from Tokio report an attack on the czarewitch near Rajoto by a Japanese assailant with a sword. The czarewitch was slightly wounded but not in danger, with few details yet available. A later Tokio message says the czarowitz is seriously wounded though not dying, motive unknown.

In Springfield Illinois on May 183 the Chicago park Packers known as the Big Four suffered a pronounced defeat in their bid to force the Stock Yards Transfer Company to move cars and shipments to the new stock yards proposed by Armour Swift Morris and Allerton.
Richard Trumbull, Chilean Parliament member and insurgent leader, was arrested in San Francisco at night for violating U S neutrality laws tied to shipments of arms and ammunition on the schooners Robert and Minnie.
