Sacramento May 4 Governor Wilett acknowledged a requisition by New York Governor Hurches for Bronight and Wedrudenberg author to answer grand larceny and forgery charges. Detective Fitzsimmons of District Attorney Jerome's staff departed for San Francisco to capture Brandenberg and return him to New York.
In San Francisco on May 4 Hroughton Brandenberg obtained a writ of habeas corpus from Judge Cabanish to stay Detective Fitzsimmons with an extradition warrant. The writ is returnable next Sunday. Brandenberg says the governor issued the extradition writ without a hearing and he will resist its execution.

Dayton aeroplanists Wilbur and Orville Wright received the Aeronautical Society of Great Britain's first gold medal at the Institute of Civil Engineers. Washington May 4 The department of justice held a conference to enable the attorney general to learn progress on prosecutions of the New York World and Indianapolis News proprietors for alleged libelous publications connected with the United States canal purchase. No plans were disclosed.
The Honey Of and Gas company abandons a prospect at the Jackson Till ett farm northwest of Penn after drilling to 430 feet into Trenton rock with no oil found. The drill went 300 feet further and the well will be plugged and abandoned. The company holds 3000 acres under lease and plans five more wells before disbanding.
Darlington Indiana May 4. The body of Fred Graves prosecuting attorney of Boone county who was drowned in Sugar creek near here has not yet been recovered despite exhaustive efforts. The creek was dynamited and will be again if needed and a dredge will be used.
In Salem Indiana on May 4 William Gaiter of Pughtown shot Edgar Fleener, also of the area, and Fleener is believed mortally wounded. Sheriff Lewis Simith, acting on information Fleener likely to die, has placed Gaiter under arrest.
