London March 21 police turnout dampened a suffragist raid on the House of Commons led by Lady Barbeton. Seventy women were arrested after demonstrations outside Parliament and Caxton Hall protests continued into the evening.
In Freeport a grand jury returns multiple indictments after a three week session into an alleged pooling of a dozen bridge companies with territory shares. William H. Shona is charged with conspiring to curb competition and faces a bribery count along with his brother. Other indicttees include a Clinton Iowa firm and a Madison Wisconsin man, plus two road commissioners tied to a $12,000 contract.
New York March 21 The district attorney urged the court to appoint a commission in lunacy after asserting Harry Kendall Thaw is unable to advise his counsel and may be sane only in intent. Jerome claimed state alienists found unsound mind and that defense hiding testimony could halt the trial. Thaw reportedly cheerful amid the turn, while prosecutors prepare affidavits for the court.
