James Hanley of Company B Fortieth Infantry sent a silk flag from the Philippines. He captured it from a Filipino colorbearer who was wounded in a skirmish. The banner, delicate and well made, is new and unsold and was presented to his niece in North Manchester Indiana on March 16.
Lafayette Ind March 16 Replies from most Indiana colleges show acceptance of the new constitution for the Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic association. A few minor changes are suggested. The constitution includes eligibility rules agreed upon by nine western colleges at the Chicago conference.

In Loogootee Indiana on March 16 Carl and Harry Reilly aged 4 and 6 were handling a flobert rifle when it discharged. The bullet lodged in Harry's heart and caused instantaneous death. Their father E M Reilly resides south of town.
A Montana incident in Whannon on March 16 leaves Fred Brown dead and Myrtle Lyttle killed after a confrontation over family feuds. Myrtle was shot in the back as she greeted Brown. Lyttle then shot Brown in self defense and surrendered. Coroner’s jury returns verdict of justifiable homicide for Lyttle.
