Stanford Kentucky March 10 A Queen and Crescent Route train carrying Gentry Bros circus and menagerie stalled in Kings Mountain tunnel yesterday. Efforts to pull free filled the tunnel with smoke causing the engineer and fireman to escape nearly unconscious. John Sanders of Bloomington Indiana died from suffocation.
Benjamin Pierson charged with shooting Eric Weathers of Marengo about a year ago will be tried next Wednesday. Weathers, alive but totally paralyzed from the waist down, is brought to court on a stretcher for the jury to observe the injury. Pierson pleads self defense.
