A force of 500 soldiers was deployed around the Peruvian and Argentine legations to protect the buildings after a violent mob attacked in La Paz. Widespread disorder continues with looting of Peruvian stores and strong demonstrations against Peru and Argentina. A state of siege has been proclaimed.
A Perry County letter to Judge Jacob Messmore reveals a 30 year old guilt. An anonymous writer admits stealing $1 from a harness shop where Messmore was once connected, encloses the money, and says his conscience haunted him for decades seeking relief.
In Fort Wayne Indiana on July 14 Mrs Ralph Bump twenty eight forced carbolic acid into her four month old baby then drank the remaining contents and died. The infant died and the mother was not expected to survive a note said she was tired of living and could not leave the baby.
A tornado struck Fithian near Danville on July 13 wrecking several stores and damaging a large elevator. The Illinois Traction system sub power ration was also affected. Several people were injured but injuries were slight.
Orville Willet achieved a six minute forty second flight at Fort Myer last evening. He circled the drill grounds more than six times in a sufficient wind and landed safely.

J C Saylor vice president of Crescent City First National Bank was shot dead by Dr W R Miller after Saylor found Miller at his home with Saylor's wife. Miller fled to bed. sheriff later arrested him. Saylor had attended a ball game earlier that day.
Mrs Minnie Daniel of Michigan City says her fiance Fred Miller befriended her through correspondence, took 1300 dollars from her, then married her after a county clerk license. They planned to Philadelphia. In Chicago he disappeared after she withdrew 1360 insurance proceeds and he returned with a package of worthless paper.
Acting on the state board of pardons recommendations Governor Marshall pardoned four convicts and paroled twelve while denying clemency to seven. Leniency favored five murder inmates, four of whom were serving life terms. The murderers released are Taylor Hughes Lawrence Smith Vincent Ginn Andrew Korener and Fred Ellis. all are paroled.
