In Greencastle Indiana on July 1 Crawford Gertin 45 was killed by an eastbound Big Four train while walking home two miles east of town. A young boy found his body near daylight after the crash. In Kwiautrows Indiana Henry Lucas 20 a farmer was fatally injured when his vehicle was struck by Pennsylvania Limited No 20. He was thrown 80 feet as the horse died instantly.

Worcester July 1 two firemen died and eight were injured when the Habley Manufacturing rag shop in Brackett court collapsed after a fire. The dead were W. F. Brinham 34 and J J Boyle 36 both of hose No 4. Debris trapped them for hours as floors fell into the cellar. several rescuers were injured but survived.

Victim of Morphine Overdose In Louisville Visit
Henry Hughes of Port land avenue and 26th street Louisville overdosed on morphine while visiting Miss Meeks on East Market. He grew drowsy and asked a physician Dr. B F Marenthal who administered antidotes and walked him for hours before he recovered and was sent home. Hughes had a history of morphine use and had switched to capsules the day before the incident.
