Indianapolis January 30 A well placed source says Joseph A Moore the Connecticut Mutual defaulter left the city early Saturday possibly heading to Canada. Attorney Bar rett confirms Moore fled to safety but won’t specify time. Investigation continues with the shortage still at the original amount.
In Indianapolis this afternoon John E. Sullivan county clerk and poultry packer shipper is reported to have failed. Sullivan, elected Democrat clerk about two years ago, claimed campaign expenses of 10 000 dollars. The report raises questions about potential shortage in the clerk's office and its impact on operations.
Gen. Harrison continued work on his inaugural address in Indianapolis. The few visitors were asked not to linger beyond polite limits as he focused on his task yesterday.

An alarm at 6:30 this morning from box 34 signaled a fire at Henry Hughes’s stable on Fifth Street between Sycamore and the graveyard. The blaze started in the loft by incendiary means, damaging the loft and roof but the fire department saved much of the structure.

Mollie Fallon a 14 year old resident of Louisville was bitten by a large bull dog at the Burnett house owned by Capt. Hughes. In the yard she fed the dog, the animal leaped and sank its fangs into her left calf. After a tense struggle the jaws were pried apart and she was helped to the house where she fainted from pain.
A special dispatch reports sixteen men with twenty horses and teams drowned crossing ice on Lake Rideau near Sunbury Ontario. No authoritative confirmation tonight as telegraph office is closed. The accident allegedly occurred when ice caved in.
