Jackson Kentucky January 1 factions Callahan and Denton end hostilities and disband after warrants against Sheriff Calshan and allies accused in shootings are dismissed. Judge Taulbee cites leaders in the law and order movement as endorsing the move to peace and prevents arming a posse.
President Roosevelt hosted a large New Year reception at the White House with about six thousand attendees from every state and territory. The event lasted over three hours and set a new attendance record, surpassing last year by more than 168 guests.
The defense opened by addressing the jury claiming Mrs. Catharine Beisel shot her brother in law in self defense after a struggle in which she wrested the pistol.
