The colored chicken thief Tony Bluford is arrested after stealing a keg of beer from Joseph Klaer and hiding a barn key at William Newhouse's Spring Street loft. Klaer and patrolmen recovered the key, Bluford confessed, and Ed F. Slider pursues prosecution. coal recovery follows sunken barges on Pearl Street.

Claude Bennett alias Hoffman was arrested in Corydon after stealing a watch and seven dollars from Joseph Uhl on a Paloayra farm. He fled in Uhl s horse and buggy, hid at Palmyra then rode a buckboard to Corydon where Patrolman Strack and Deputy Strack captured him. Bennett confessed and returned the property. he will be taken to Corydon for trial.
The W L Sanderson Post 191 G A R adopts resolutions praising President Cleveland’s 17th address to Congress on the Great Britain Venezuela boundary quarrel. It pledges to aid Indiana if war comes and to defend the United States honor, sending copies to Governor Matthews and the National Tribune.
The colored Second Baptist Church at East Main and Third streets reports full clearance of its $2,260 debt under Rev. 8S. C. Manuel since June 1892. Debt paid December 11. Membership grew by over 250,181 with baptism figures noted. Jubilee services run January 20 to 26 with Rev. W. H. Anderson assisting.
