Tokyo reports say the Japanese naval bombardment sank a Russian torpedo boat at Port Arthur on Saturday. Dispatches describe an almost uninterrupted assault from Nov 30 to Dec 10, with heavy use of 11 and 16 inch mortars and howitzers behind a hill crest.

Huntington West Virginia December 19 Rosa White aged eighteen was found slain with her throat cut from ear to ear and crushed in. She was the daughter of Har lam White a prominent Logan County farmer. No clue to the murderer is known.

After forty four years County Council finally appropriates 25008 dollars for a new courthouse at Kentland. The long contest centered on moving the county seat from Kentland to another location with multiple legislature acts and court challenges noted. An 1899 removal law required 65 percent votes but was overturned by courts. The county also earmarked 1000 dollars to investigate county records.

George Meredith aged fifty formerly marshal of Pierceton Ind was killed instantly just west of town by a fast freight while gathering tools along the south track. He was employed on the Pennsylvania railroad section gang at the time of the accident.
Washington December 19 Congress will adjourn on Wednesday for the Christmas holiday. A large number of members have already left for home to spend the holidays.
