Destitution Grows After Homestead Strike

Rock Island Telegraphers Strike Impacts Operations Across Division

In Chicago Chief Ramsay of the Order of Railway Telegraphers says Rock Island operators are on strike despite denials. At Council Bluffs division, dispatchers control east and westbound traffic while yard offices close and most yard operators join the strike. The road faces widespread disruption as a small number of operators remain and the company plans replacements.

A discharged Camden mines worker in Mason county West Virginia started a blaze at the company electric light plant causing 15000 from costly machinery and buildings to be wrecked.
