A fragmented listing shows Barles B. Dorsey a drug dealer at Upper Fourth and Spri streets with prescriptions. Kepler is noted as a picture frames and show cases maker at 57 and 39 East Main. Plancliman & Co appears as a hardware and tinware firm at 86 Market Street.
John Jackson, pension claim attorney at 641g State Street, presents claims in the Interior and Treasury Bureaus. Offers prompt settlements and increases in pensions with personal attention. No pension, no fee. Correspondence solicited.
Auditor Robert W. Morris reports the enumeration of white and colored male inhabitants over twenty one in Floyd County townships. New Albany shows 5478 white and 6 colored. Greenville 363 white. Georgetown 1416 total. Lafayette 328 white and 1 colored. Franklin 174 total. Grand total listed as 6756 white and 610 colored.
In San Francisco a jury convicted Sullivan of prize fighting as charged in the first count after a complex habeas corpus hearing over a warrant of arrest for Justice Field. Bail was fixed at 5,000 dollars, and Field's release was ordered pending Thursday's hearing.
The funeral was held in Stockton California with the body taken from the morgue to the Episcopal church where it lay in state for two hours. Mrs. Terry watched the corpse from a nearby pew as she sobbed and fainted. The service was read by a church vestryman and the body laid to rest in the Stockton cemetery.
In Richmond Texas a mob takes control of the Richmond county seat as factions clash. Sheriff Garvey and a man named Blackney are badly wounded. Capt Reinhart of the Houston Light Guards is summoned and Gov. Ross plans to move troops. Rangers Captain Aten seeks aid as tensions threaten broader violence.
A terrble tragedy near Jackson Tennessee reports ex-cowboy Henry Prewitt fatally shot his young wife in the arms of her aunt then wounded his mother in law before killing himself. He had four months married and had been sought for moonshining. He pleaded with his wife to accompany him but she declined due to ill health. He claimed a violent past including four marriages and multiple killings.
An escaped gas explosion at the Thomas J. McCabe crockery store at 409 Grand Street in New York this evening killed Morris Jacobs, seventeen, and injured about a dozen others including men women and children. The blast shattered heavy plate glass and started a fire, with neighbors alarmed by the surrounding shock and debris.
New York August 16 The press men on the World went out at 1 o clock to meet at their head quarters. The strike seeks removal of a non printer foreman reinstate the preceding foreman and demands union wages and hours.
A group of Portland toughs arrived by river with a keg this morning near the bridge. Their heavy drinking disturbed the peace, two men fought, and the clash spread until order was restored and they left for Sand Island to continue their debauch.
The Tribune publishes Joshua Horsfield's letter from New Albany as Clay county miners’ representative. It states an immediate relief need and asks the citizen committees to report to Mayor McDonald with contributions. They should meet at 8 oclock this evening at the Mayor's office to take swift action.

A woman unnamed in the report was insulted yesterday afternoon at the corner of Pearl and Main streets by two book agents. A description of the assailants has been filed with the police.

Lonbon August 16 The Press Association reports that Mr Matthews Home Secretary advised the Queen to commute the death sentence of Mrs Maybrick to life imprisonment. The reprieve follows new considerations in the case.
The decision will be announced once the Queen’s formal assent is received, completing the official approval process.
