A freight train on the Chicago Indiana Southern wrecked just north of Kentland Indiana. Conductor Fred Case had a broken leg. Six loaded oil tank cars and several freight cars piled up and caught fire from a hot box. Oil spread along tracks debris and right of way for a quarter mile and burned for twelve hours. The wreck train called was nearly destroyed in the blaze.
