In Pittsburg a group of thirty-five women from a Daughters of Liberty lodge rode a straw wagon over a thirty-foot embankment at Evergreen nine miles from the city. Many were injured though none fatally, as the party suffered a severe crash during the ride. In Menominee Wisconsin a man named William Ester killed his seven year old daughter by striking her with a jug. He says the motive was the mother’s opposition to the child and was arrested following the act.
