Louisville and Chicago line engines sent for overhaul
The Louisville New Albany and Chicago company moved heavy mogul freight engines to Indianapolis, Decatur and Western shops for rebuilding with five sent to Louisville and Nashville for repair. Three months from now all passenger and freight engines should be in good order. Seven engines were damaged in the last thirty days but three nearly new ones were repaired and back in service. An expert mechanic says under the old management many engines were neglected, explaining the push to swap engines to outside shops. Engine Nos 63 72 and 74 arrived or near arrival at D and W shops. all are Rogers builds bought in 1887 and show heavy wear.
