Tornado Rips Through County Near Washington Iowa
A violent tornado with hail tore across the county six miles north of Washington Iowa, destroying barns fences and homes. One schoolhouse was wrecked and a fourteen year old girl killed near the scene. Several adults and children were injured, with multiple deaths reported and extensive property damage across Keota and surrounding areas. An eyewitness described the fearsome roar and timber hurled like cannon shots, with hail as large as nine inches reported and livestock killed.
