A legal committee fully exonerated Rev. Mar Baer who had faced a year and a half of charges over tobacco use. Medical testimony showed tobacco was prescribed for insomnia and a nervous condition, not habit. Conference expressed sympathy for the minister whose health necessitated smoking.
Rev W H Barraclough chaired the meeting as president of the evening session in a church gathering.
