A first boating accident of the season occurred when A Mills of McLean's drug store and G J McLaughlin of Wim, Hunter & Co., nearly drowned in a canoe after a steamer Moyie created a dangerous wash. They were rescued by the Moyie and taken to safety, later recovering from the cold. It is noted this is McLaughlin's third immersion in a year and a warning is issued for boaters to keep clear of large lake boats. The lake level is six feet above normal low water and may rise further if mild weather continues, raising flood risk.
