In damp winds from New Haven to Baltimore, the Constitution beat the Columbia in the first squadron run from Huntingdon to Morris Cove. The 23 mile course saw the Constitution win by five minutes 16 seconds elapsed time and four minutes 6 seconds corrected time as winds shifted and sails trimmed. In Milwaukee, the Mil waukee won the Canada Cup third trial on a 21 mile triangular course, beating Cadillac and Illinois as Illinois led early then Milwaukee overtook them to finish ahead.
