Man Locked in Refrigerator Sparks Hospital Alert

Powers proprietor of the Mansion hotel in Hamilton nearly died after locking himself inside the big cellar refrigerator to test the door. The 14 inch thick door trapped him for about twenty minutes until he retrieved an oak strip to force it open. He fainted briefly but recovered later as heat continues to cause prostrations across the region.

Customs Receipts Hit New Dominion Highs

Ottawa reports the fiscal year 1900 01 closed with record customs revenue at 28 090 254 dollars excluding Yukon and coastal returns. Trail Celebrates Ist With Sports and Feasting

Trail held a large celebration of its first anniversary drawing about a thousand attendees. Rossland visitors joined for horse racing baseball and tug of war events. Trail smelter beat Rossland in a War agil team match while Italian and Austrian teams from the smelter clashed in a lively tug of war. The event drew contestants from North Port and nearby towns as Hall Mines smelter planned copper shipments soon.
