Review of New York Prohibitory Law Opinions
The Executive committee of the New York State Temperance Society asked Gov. Dutton of Conn. for a review of Prohibition Court of Appeals opinions. In his May 5 1855 reply Henry Darrox analyzes Judge Comstock’s reasoning, argues the law should be fully effective not prospective, and defends prohibition as essential to morals, public welfare, and protection against intemperance and crime.
