The monthly musical event at St John s Reformed church on Oeyreneng features the ice choir conducted by Charles Hess. The program includes Blest Tie that Binds in memory of the month and offers an Ani interesting performance.
David B. Camp infant son of Mr and Mrs Guy Camp of 20 Park Street died Monday evening in Easton hospital where he was admitted earlier that day for treatment. He was seven weeks old and the couple’s only child. The funeral was held last Thursday at Chambersburg. Mr Camp teaches mathematics at Nazareth High School.
The farm belonging to the estate of the late David Michael along the road from Daniel's Blaze Quarry to Moorestown, Moore township, was sold at public sale to Bert Roth. The property includes a frame dwelling and outbuildings. Howard P. Koch administrator and T. M. Kunkle served as auctioneer.
Mrs. Andrew Kern, president of the Nazareth Woman's Club, returned from Scranton where she attended the 35th annual convention of the State Federation of Pennsylvania Women as the local club's delegate. Other attendees named include Mrs. R. T. Peppell, Miss Emma Laub, Mrs. H. O. Hoch, Mrs. Arthur Schmidt, Mrs. Charles Shafer, Mrs. Ralph Fry and Mrs. William Jackson Jr.
The Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters met Tuesday evening in Moravian church social rooms with 22 members. Mrs. A. E. Frantz led the gathering, scriptures read, minutes approved, plans discussed, and arrangements finalized for a Hallowe'en party on October 28 at Mrs. Frantz's home.
Tuesday evening at 6 30 Frank Remaley near Moorestown collided with a Stroudsburg Allentown bus on Centre street. The right side of the bus struck Remaley's car, crumpling the left front fender and bending the bumper. The bus driver stopped to check injuries, found none, then left. Witnesses dispute fault, some say Remaley did not stop, others say the bus was traveling faster than usual.
The Girls Scouts met Friday at the Moravian church social rooms in two troops. Troop 2, led by Miss Harriet Henry and Miss Martha Knauss, met at 4 pm, while Troop 1, led by Miss Elizabeth Bahnsen and Miss Wunderly, met that evening. The group reorganized recently with three patrols formed and officers elected: secretary Roselle Davis, treasurer Carmel, and scribe Karch. Plans for Girl Scout week were made and several girls passed Tenderfoot and First Class tests.
At the K GE regular meeting in Eagle hall Centre Square Noble Chief Earl Walton presided. Visitors from Sellersville Castle were welcomed and the evening featured a new indoor baseball game with teams from Sellersville and the local castle. The score depended on a feather-tailed dart hitting marked squares with hits runs strikes. Grand Trustee Oscar La Rue of Easton attended among others.
Nelson L. Yeakel a 47 year old Nazareth pharmacist who ran a corner drug store at Mauch Chunk and Main streets died by his own action Thursday morning by leaping into the abandoned quarry hole at the old Northampton Cement Company quarry in Stockertown. The body was found floating upright in about 20 feet of water and was identified by Dr. W. Calvin Nickel, the coroner. Funeral services were held Monday at the Moravian church.
More than 150 delegates gathered for the Fall convention of the Woman's Missionary Society of the East Pennsylvania Classis of the Re formed Church at Memorial Reformed Church in Easton. Mrs C W Hetrick of Grace Church Easton led sessions with reports from officers and committees and updates from Eastern Synod delegates. Elizabeth Moyer of St Mark's Easton opened with devotions as plans continued for the day.
Charlie Gelbert and his bride Miss Mabel Hafer arrived in town after their wedding at Memorial Chapel Valley Forge and reception at Washington Inn. A calithumpian serenade greeted the couple at the Baronial Hotel as fans congratulated the baseball star. They planned a honeymoon tour including Asbury Park Princeton Scranton and a Canada trip before returning to St. Louis for residence at Forrest Park.
A measured acre at the State Hospital Farm in Weaversville produced 603.3 bushels per acre, the highest in Northampton County this season and possibly in Pennsylvania. County Agent B L Coleman notes the crop is high quality. A five acre plot in the same field yielded 538 bushels per acre. Farm manager Victor A Houston.
Interest in reviving a town minstrel show sparks formation of a committee of originals. Local veterans, aged fifteen to twenty years, will join with younger favorites to form the cast. Organization meeting set for Monday evening October 5 at the Jacksonian Club social rooms. notices sent to participants, some addresses missing due to neglected records.
Rev AR Appel of Bethlehem will administer the Holy Communion at Salem church Moorestown Sunday morning at 10 o clock. Offerings will be for benevolence and general expenses.
Elisabeth J Kraemer and Harry M Happel were married at the Reformed church by Rev W H Wotring. Bride wore brown chiffon with yellow rose bouquet. attendants included Mrs Charles Schnerr and Louis Kraemer. Best man Richard Coffin. ushers Louis Kraemer and Albert J Sturgis. After a reception at Nazareth Inn the couple left for a New York state trip and will reside at 129 South Main. He works for Pennsylvania Dixie Cement. she is Nazareth High school graduate formerly employed at Penn-Dixie.
The Eastern States Dirt Track Championship Race comes to Nazareth Fair Grounds this Saturday October 25. A 25 mile 50 lap contest will feature top dirt track drivers from across the country competing for large prize money. Promoter Leo J. Cornell has spent two weeks lining up entrants for this major event at the local fair grounds.
The associational officers conference scheduled for October 25 is postponed to November with two weeks notice to county and district officers. The event historically runs the first week of December and aims to boost county and district work focusing on new standards and leadership training. An Easton School of Leadership Training begins November 10 with five courses and noted educators leading sessions.
August Lackson of Bayonne New Jersey owner of a Belfast area farm is jailed in Northampton County charged with stabbing John Berger a farm worker. Berger says Lackson accused him of stealing farm produce and stabbed him five times on the farm. Berger treated by Dr J A Fetheroll then sent home.
The Rotarians gathered in the eye dining hall for a 6 15 PM weekly dinner. Edward Heilman led a pep song service with Jacob Boerstler at the piano. Birthday flowers were given to Dr J A Fraunfelder and F H Martin by P S Trumbower and William Harper. Rev W H Wotring presented Harper a chrysanthemums basket. President Martin congratulated J A Miller Jr on his recent marriage. Talks on Rotary Education followed. Dr Bryan will speak at the Count Institute next week. On November 3 the local will host Stroudsburg Rotary Club. Royce Bush of Bethlehem was a guest. George Grim won the attendance prize.

Former Nazareth cement chemist Meade dies in Noelie Virginia. Born December 28, 1874 in Charlottesville, he was Lafayette College alum and long time chemist for Edison Portland Cement, Northampton Portland Cement, Dexter Portland Cement, founder of The Chemical Engineer magazine, and later general manager of Tidewater Portland Cement in Baltimore.
