Nazareth Merchants Meet at Inn to Set Hours

The Nazareth Merchants Committee of the Chamber calls a Nazareth Inn meeting for Nazareth merchants tomorrow night at 6:30 to set uniform opening and closing hours. Attendees will discuss June to August Wednesday afternoons, holiday hours, and displaying Old Glory on curbs and buildings. Junior Civil Service Examiner Examination Announced

The United States Civil Service Commission invites applications by June 10, 1936 for the Junior Civil Service Examiner post with a 1620 dollar yearly salary after retirement deduction. Becks Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary in Easton

Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Beck of North Second Street Easton celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is 79 and she 77. they were married in Philadelphia on May 17 1876. Family and friends from Easton Philadelphia and nearby towns joined them for the observance.

On Sunday at Effort Mr. and Mrs. A B Kresge hosted a dinner for Mrs Annie M Kratz of Nazareth celebrating her 76th birthday. Nazareth High Names 1936 Honor Students and Valedictorian

Nazareth High School scheduled to graduate 81 seniors in June with Mildred McFall named valedictorian for the Class of 1936. McFall, daughter of Russell and Mrs McFall, led in academics and held roles in the Comet, Blue and White Standard, Glee Club, Dramatic and Forensic societies, and student government. Salutatorian Mabel Smith, a top commercial student, served as typist on the Comet and Blue and White Standard staffs. Frances Laubach, Elaine Miller and other honorees led in business, arts, athletics, and student activities across Nazareth and Bath communities.

Tenth Anniversary Music Program Honors Organist Choirmaster

Churchmen's League Fish Supper Planned for May 28

The Churchmen's League of St. John's Reformed Church will serve its annual fish supper at 6 30 p m on Thursday May 28 during their meeting. Rev Diehl and league members will travel to Bowers Beach on Tue and Wed to obtain the fish for the meal. Harold V. Knecht Post American Legion held a regular meeting with Commander Morrow, urging stronger cooperation for local safety efforts. George Hartzell reported good progress of the Legion boys ball club with about forty players under coach Pop Heath. Memorial Day parade routes include Circle to Morgian Cemetery with Sons of Veterans at Schoeneck and Greenwood cemeteries, then Legion services at Union and Catholic cemeteries. Local cement mills win national Safety Trophy in 1935

Three Nazareth area cement plants win the Portland Cement Association Safety Trophy for a year free of disabling accidents. Nazareth No. 4 of Pennsylvania Dixie, Nazareth of Lone Star, and Hercules plant of Hercules Cement Corp are honored alongside 40 other mills. Executives credit strict safety programs and management cooperation for the record. Loss-time accidents have dropped dramatically since 1924, with 43 plants reporting no accidents last year.

Nazareth Junior Senior Prom a Colorful Night

Nazareth High School hosted the Class of 1937 prom on Friday May 15 in the gym. Soft lighting and pastel streamers with a top hats and music notes motif transformed the space. Emma Yukna led decorating, with a strong junior committee and an entertainment crew delivering music by the Sirens and various games and indoor quests. Refreshments were served to attendees.

April district attendance reached 96 percent on 156 school days, term to date 95 percent with an average daily attendance of 1290. Absences included several teachers with substitutes. deductions totaled 19.64 while substitutes were paid 53.00. Fire drills occurred. six pupils lost 12% days to accidents. Medical inspector Dr Praunfelder logged 31% hours for inspections and exams. Grim conducted five home visits and escorted pupils to doctors, dentists, and clinics, with four treatments for minor ailments.
