Miss Vannatta climbs from sixth to fourth as the weekly count tops credit totals. The contest rewards the best performer with five dollars and pushes toward a final July 3 tally. Judges will announce the winner in the July 11 issue after recounts.

Nazareth to be greeted in Yellowstone by motor coach parade

After her North Coast Limited journey Miss Nazareth will be greeted at the Hotel or Lodge each day during her Yellowstone stay. She will be welcomed by serenading savages, college student workers, and visiting guests. Orchestras will play at dinner and evenings as recreation halls host get togethers and amateur theatricals.

Nazareth High Nine District Champions Cornerstone Laid

Nazareth High nine, champions of the Lehigh Northampton Interscholastic League, defeated opponent 3 to 1 in the District Eleven playoff to clinch the title. The corner stone of the new Office Building at the Circle was laid with a lead tube containing letters and lists from local officials, the Nazareth School Board, the Chamber of Commerce, and the postmaster.

Rural Carriers Hold Clambake and Convention Plans

The Northampton County Rural Letter Carriers Association hosted its annual clambake at Miller's Grove Delcpole with attendees from nearby counties. They announced the July 15 to 17 Easton state convention and elected new officers including Clyde Langenbach as president and Jacob Heckman as vice president. The Ladies Auxiliary also named officers led by Mrs Clyde Langenbach and Mrs Warren Heiney.

Engagement announced for Dorothy Miller Rehrig and Robert Peppell

The engagement of Miss Dorothy Miller Rehrig daughter of Dr and Mrs J Edward Rehrig of Bangor and Robert Lee Peppell of Wilmington Delaware son of Mr and Mrs R I Peppell of Nazareth was announced at a tea at the coming bride's Bangor home. They plan to marry this fall. Rehrig is a Bangor High School graduate and attended Mary Lyn Swarthmore Wellesley and the Cooperation School for Student Teachers in New York City. Peppell is a Nazareth High School and Duke University graduate. Missing Anita Knecht Belvidere St is visiting her aunt Mrs A N Gish in Allentown.

Nazareth Triumph Seals Palmerton Nine Heartbreak

Nazareth broke through in the ninth inning at Thomas Field in Catasauqua to claim the Lehigh Valley League title. Two loud hits, a triple and a single, highlighted the late surge as Nazareth toppled the Palmerton nine, with Steve Finta pitching for Stockertown. Continued on Page Six.

Easton Open Air Service at Easton High Stadium

The Lutheran Pastoral Association of Easton Phillipsburg and vicinity sponsors an Open Air Service at 7 PM daylight saving time on Sunday in Easton High School stadium at 12th and Northampton Streets. Rev H W Hanson D D LL D of Gettysburg College preaches Christianity at the Cross Roads. The event features a large choir, hymns, a 60 instrument orchestra, and a junior chorus. Moravian Nazareth Congregation 188th Anniversary Observance

Nazareth Moravian Congregation marks the 168th anniversary of its organization with services on the upcoming Sunday. Nazareth Paper Box Plant Rebuild Awarded to Bethlehem Firm

Bids were opened Monday evening by F. D. Wood for the Nazareth Paper Box factory re construction. The Ray Construction Company of Bethlehem won the contract at 12750 dollars. Work to start at once and finish by August 1. Building to be steel and brick, 50 by 95 feet.

John’s Reformed Church held a Sunday morning Children’s Day with a pageant titled God Speaks In Everything directed by Mrs William Silfies. Scenery by Lawrence Reiss Virgil Van Natt with Miss Reimer in charge of costumes. Music by Lorraine Eyer Mildred Beck with junior choir performing multiple numbers led by Charles Hess. Truck Fire Destroys Bethlehem News Agency Truck

A Bethlehem News Agency delivery truck catching fire in front of Reimers Stationery Store on South Main Street Saturday morning at 415 consumed most newspapers and the truck’s top before Vigilance Hose Company could extinguish it with a booster pump. Firefighters responded promptly but the fire left a mass of flames.

Nazareth Drops Two in East Penn League Action

Nazareth lost two league games over the weekend. They fell 6 to 3 to Easton on Saturday and 8 to 2 to Amicus. Charley Heath, Nazareth’s catcher and manager, broke a thumb in the sixth inning and will miss most of the season. East Greenville moved to second place, pushing Nazareth to third. On Saturday Nazareth meets the league leaders, Joe Bird's Martins Creek nine.

Prizes Awarded To Nazareth High School Students At Commencement

At Nazareth High School commencement and assembly last week, Alumni Association president Charle Shimer presented prizes to outstanding students. Lorraine Heyer won the Girls Citizenship prize while Joseph Cassano earned the Gay Citizenship prize. Louise Kern took the first Oratorical Contest prize with Samuel Marx second. A $100 contribution for a moving picture projector was donated toward student films and accepted by the Board of Education. Joseph Cassano announced the class gift and future plans during the assembly.
