Young Man Rescued From Drowning At Nazareth Quarry
Stephen L. Kavcak, 24, son of Mr and Mrs John Kavcak of Nazareth, nearly drowned at 3 30 am Sunday in an abandoned limestone quarry owned by Nazareth Brick Company. Swimmer fatigued after crossing the pit twice, sank while attempting a third crossing. Adolph Urban of the Nazareth Junior Life Saving Corps located his unconscious body and led resuscitation until a doctor arrived. Kavcak was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital and later discharged.

Robbery at American Stores Bath on Main Street
Thieves broke into the American Stores on Main Street Bath during Sunday night and stole the safe contents and the entire stock of cigarettes. Entrance gained via the rear warehouse with the safe moved to the warehouse and pried open. Loss amount not stated. investigators and local officials searched for clues after neighbors heard a brief noise about midnight. This marks the store’s third burglary in about twelve years with a previous incident ending with the safe found in an open field after the door was blown open by acetylene torch.

Truck crash on Dead Man's Curve kills Renn father and son
David B. Renn of Shamokin and his son Allen Renn died Friday when their beer-hauling truck crashed on Dead Man's Curve on the Easton Nazareth road. S. J. Heiney of Nazareth freed Allen from the wreck and rushed him to Easton Hospital where he died two hours later. The Renns are longtime Shamokin truckers, part of a large fleet. David was active with his father T. Jefferson Renn. He is survived by wife and three children Wickence, Jean and Carl.
