Nazareth A C held its first annual banquet Friday at the House in Saylornburg. Sam Weiss received a robe as a gift, with Getz and Moy introducing him. speeches honored players, coach O Keefe and organizer Heath. The event closed near midnight with praise for the team and anticipation of next season.

Moravian College Speaker Urges Aid for West Indies Missions

Mission speaker Rev. Heath, president of Moravian College for Women, described hurricane devastation in the West Indies and sought relief support. The collection at the service totaled 125 dollars for mission work. A property sale on Broad Street yielded 64,60 dollars to George A. Karch, with listed parcel dimensions. Moravian church Christmas gift drive to county home

The Moravian Christian Endeavor society Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scouts canvassed town for gifts to the county home. It is an annual 35 year tradition with donations of clothing toys eatables and candy gathered by teams and transported by Trumbower Company truck. The C E and King's Daughters distributed baskets to the church's shut-ins and sick.

Younger Set Entertained at Bridge in Christmas Home

Miss Marion Schaeffer hosted a bridge party last Friday evening in honor of guest Miss Olive Harris of Shanghai China. Hood College classmates and local friends attended amid holly and candles creating a Christmas mood. Joe Kaeppel Injured In Auto Mishap Near Nazareth

Joe Kaeppel was seriously injured when his milk truck left the Nazareth Bath pike near the Nazareth Fair Grounds Saturday afternoon. The truck overturned into a ditch near a telephone pole, milk bottles scattered, and the machine sustained extensive damage. He was taken to Dr. William J Happel for treatment of scalp and forearm lacerations and a badly injured right leg.

Splendid Xmas Programs at Moravian Church Draw Record Crowds

Christmas Eve vigils and love feast at the Moravian church filled the seating to capacity. The program featured Gruber’s Silent Night, a Christmas story from St Luke, a large orchestra, lighted wax tapers, and performances by children and the Sunday School under Rev Paul Meinert and Paul Beck. Aurora visitors noted among the audience. decorations were simple with a large white star.

Watch Night Services in Moravian Church Monday

Prominent Local Couple Celebrates 50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Adam Klipple of Centre street celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at home on Monday attended by sons grandchildren and many friends. They were married December 24 1878 at Rev J E Smiths home Hecktown. Mrs Klipple formerly Elizabeth Uhler daughter of Samuel and Sarah Uhler Bushkill Township. The Klipples have four children and twelve grandchildren, with a large dinner gathering of relatives.

Young folks stage unique entertainment at Y M C A

At Nazareth Hall on Saturday evening a large crowd of young people enjoyed a magic show by H Parker Johnson with audience volunteers. Miss Ethel McClenagan sang and danced a clog, Eleanor Huetsch and Alverta Huetsch performed fancy dances, Eva Reimer and Madeline Seeger played a piano duet, Kitty Engle sang, and Maybelle Happel gave a vocal. C S Minter, UCLA secretary, directed the event.

Unique Xmas Tree Shown At Grace MB Church

A Sunday school session at Grace MB Church on Broad Street featured a festively decorated Christmas tree prepared with green backs of several denominations. The event honored Rev. R. L. Woodring, whose pastoral leadership was praised as prosperous. Evening sermons by Woodring followed the morning service, with six people at the altar seeking dedication to service.

Christmas Exercises At Nazareth Sunday Schools

Christmas services at Nazareth Sunday Schools drew record crowds across churches. St John Lutheran reported over six hundred attendees with Beginners led by Irene Saints and Primary by Hattie Hahn. Programs included songs, recitations, and candy and oranges distributed to pupils, with 425 oranges and candy boxes given out. Reformed church also saw record attendance for its Christmas event under Mrs William Silfies and Miss Irene Roth.

A Sunday evening cantata titled Birthday of a King was presented at St. John's Reformed Church. Five sections featured Isaiah prophecy by Austin Knauss, solos by George Smith and Helen Smith, organ solo Lullaby, and choral renditions of Oh Come All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World with Reg W H Wotring delivering the benediction.

Fire alarm reports bonfire near coal company barn

A Sunday evening fire alarm at 6:45 prompted Vigilance Hose Company to respond to the Trumbower Coal Company barn on South Broad street. Flames from a bonfire had threatened the structure, but burned out before the crew entered. The chemical truck returned to headquarters at 6:15. Also noted is a Christmas Day family gathering at North Broad street hosted by Mr and Mrs Harry Minnich with several relatives attending from nearby towns.
