Young man injured after wild ride and hit run crash

David Koch of 411 Fourth Street is in St Luke's Hospital after a reckless high speed drive near Northampton to Bath led to a ditch crash. Police and state troopers investigate alleged drunken driving, possible other occupants, and a second motorist who struck Koch. Witnesses include George Meeser, manager of the Broad Street theatre. Koch's condition is serious but improving as authorities seek the hit and run motorist.

Lutheran Christmas Exercises at St John’s Church

The Sunday School presents a Christmas program on Christmas day at 7 30 p m with Beginners and Primary Departments led by Miss Irene and Mrs William Williams. The morning service includes the monthly Children's Service at 10 15 a m with Junior Choir anthems. In the evening the Senior Choir performs the Sacred Cantata The Story of Christmas by Matthews based on the Nativity. Organist Mr Daniel Rohn will preside. Songs include The Holy Night Nearer My God To Thee and Joy To The World. Soloists are Mrs Wm Jos Happel Miss Florence Itterly Mrs Gilbert Hearn Miss Fannie Gernet Mrs Eugenie Gregory Miss Pearl Schnerr and Messrs Warren Eberts and Charles Schnerr. The cantata has four parts: The Prophecy The Vision of the Shepherds The Quest of the Magi and The Fulfilment of the Prophecy. Public invited to attend these Christmas services.

County Tax Rate Set for 1931 at Seven Mills

Nazareth Woman's Club closes year with Xmas party

The Nazareth Woman's Club held a Christmas party in the Nazareth High School building. In Mrs Martha Slonaker's room guests gathered for a program of carols readings and songs, followed by a social hour and refreshments. Reformed Choir Plans December 28 Christmas Program

The Choir of St. John's Reformed Church presents a Sunday evening service of Christmas carols and anthems directed by organist Chas. W. Hess. The program includes works by Dubois, Lerman, Besancon, Gaul, Yon, Geraert, Schubert, and Handel along with traditional carols and a final Hallelujah Chorus.

Moravian Christmas Eve Vigils At Church

Moravian church held Christmas Eve vigils with full seating across Moravian churches in the country and Germany. The service opened with Silent Night and featured Morning Star, trombone choir music, old chorales, and a lighted candle blessing for children symbolizing the Light of the World.

Holiday Tourists Injured In Crash Near Hecktown

Three Scranton residents en route to Bethlehem for Christmas holidays were injured Saturday morning when the machine they rode in turned turtle on the Bethlehem pike south of Hecktown. Operator Lawrence B. Britton, with daughter Jean nette Britton aged nine and Mat Britton age twenty four, encountered dirt on the highway placed to prevent skidding on ice. A Valley Forge winter camp, begun December 19 1777, marked by Congress supply failures and starving troops, is recalled in a Bicentennial Commission statement. County to Buy Voting Machines in Bethlehem

Northampton County Commissioners plan to install about forty voting machines in Bethlehem within months. Bids will be opened January 16, with a bond issue of at least 95000 likely to cover costs, as no general funds are available. A state directive urged action to avoid state purchase.

New Year Sports Program At Y Opens Year Activities

A YMCA New Year program features a daytime and evening schedule of games and exhibitions. In the lobby and social rooms guests will join chess and checkers events along with ping pong contests. In the gymnasium two afternoon basketball games pit Trinity of Northampton against Nazareth Scholastics and Nazareth against Easton Maroons. Night activities spotlight younger boys and junior girls in basketball, board jumping and rope skipping. Open House is omitted but admission remains free.
