Damage Heavy In Car-Pickup Wreck Saturday
Four persons escaped serious injury in a 5:45 p.m. Saturday crash two miles south of Navasota on State Highway 6. Charles Hughes, 19, Navasota, drove a pickup pulling an empty stock trailer. James Portis, 20, Houston, drove a car with passengers Joe Portis and Sammy Williams. Hughes turned left onto a dirt road while Portis tried to pass. the collision flipped the pickup and trailer, blocking the highway and injuring none severely. Hughes had a bruised shoulder. others suffered minor cuts and bruises. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Houston Woman Injured In Sign Truck Collision
A 25 year old Houston widow Janice Q. Ray was severely injured when her car collided with a sign erecting truck four miles south of Navasota on State Highway 6. She was treated for head injury a severely cut arm and multiple leg fractures and later moved to a Houston hospital. The truck driver William H. Oaks and passenger Ronald Houser, both of Houston, were not hurt.
